The story revolves around Suhana, a pampered daughter of an affluent father who agrees to marry Ishaan at her father’s behest. Suhana is played by Ragini Khanna, who was last seen in Bhaskar-Bharti. In the serial, which Shruti describes as “a light-hearted soap” every couple has had a love marriage. The actor tries hard to get her son married in the serial. “Even grandfathers tease him by saying, ‘At your age, I already had a wife. Sai Deodhar back with Kaashi
Sai Deodhar, who has been missing from action for quite sometime - she was last seen in a Ek Ladki Anjaani Si- will be back in the new Imagine show Kaashi. Sai plays Eshwari, a dehati and a mother to a six year old girl, Jannat. Talking about the show, Sai says, “It’s a challenging role as this is the first time I am playing a village girl. So far I have played urban roles, be it in Saara Akash, Don or Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. Besides, the show is produced by Rupali, whom I have known for long. I had earlier shot for the pilot of her Tumhari Disha but couldn’t do the serial because I had taken up Saara Akash and did not have the dates. So, this time when she called, I agreed immediately.” The story dwells on the mother-daughter relationship. Set in one of the villages from the North, it deals with the caste system. Eshwari belongs to a lower caste, which is why her daughter is unable to study. “It is only the mother who understands her and tries to help her in every way,” says Sai. Incidentally, in the last one year, Sai was shooting along with her husband Shakti Anand for the film Gharounda directed by her mother Shrabani Deodhar. The film is produced by AB Corp. “It’s about a couple, who wants to retain their house in Mumbai, despite pressure from the builders who want their land,” informs Sai who says the film is light just like Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s films. Shakti, meanwhile will also be back on the telly with Sony’s God Bharai.

Being with the ace director, Deepika didn’t miss the opportunity to ask him when he will cast her in his film, to which the savvy Karan replied that he has been getting a lot of requests to cast her with Shahid Kapoor! Remains to be seen if Deepika’s wish comes true.
